MJ van Staden, a Grade 11 learner at Hoërskool Nelspruit, sustained a life-altering spinal injury during a rugby match against Hoërskool Monument. Despite the challenges of quadriplegia, MJ’s determination in rehabilitation remains an inspiration. Thanks to LMACS and the community, R60,000 has been raised for his recovery.

The Lowveld Medical Arts and Cultural Society (LMACS) recently made a much-needed donation of training equipment, worth about R9 500 to Village FC. The donation to the club includes essential football equipment such as goal posts, kit and cones.
For Mandela Day, LMACS contributed to the Khumbalo Phondewi Community Centre, an initiative organized by Penny Maseko of Ampath. We were proud to sponsor R5,000 in toothbrushes and toothpaste, which was doubled thanks to TLC Elmadre. A big thank you to Pieter Muller for making this possible!
In the medical field it is very easy to succumb to burnout. Every person hds experienced the feeling of overwhelm where physical and mental energy simply do not match the effort required to take care of patients, let alone our families and ourselves. As patient care is always the priority, other aspects of life must be sacrificed.
